“Stop going to church and start going to worship.”
Worship is an action verb that describes what we “get to do” at the start of each week (as well as the rest of the week). We come together as a family of believers (a.k.a. a church) to worship the one true God. One of Pastor Jeff’s mentors likes to say that “Worship is NOT a spectator sport, it is a participatory event.” What this means is that when you come to Ascension to worship you will be invited to do more than just sit and watch – though you only have to “jump in” where you feel comfortable.
We sing, pray, celebrate, confess, dive into the Word, offer ourselves and commune at each service. When we sing in worship we use a wide spectrum of hymns and songs ranging from those that have been used for centuries to those that have only been around for a short time. While worship is most often led by our pastor, don’t be too surprised if you arrive and find our youth or some other person or group leading worship.
We celebrate H0ly Communion at almost all of our worship services. We do so with an “open table” where all baptized children of God are welcome if they believe Jesus is truly present in the bread and wine. (FYI – we have gluten free Communion wafers available if you need them – just ask an usher! – and we have grape juice for those who cannot have the wine!)
Our invitation for you!
Please join us for worship.
We would love to know that you are planning to visit with us. Please consider filling out your RSVP. We would all love to meet you.
FUN CHALLENGE: Pastor Jeff is great with names. Introduce yourself on your first visit. Then come back and see if he remembers your name. If you really want to challenge him bring your kids, parents, grandparents and friends too!
Watch for God’s blessings today and always.
